Giraffes have 7 vertebrates in their neck, the same as humans ....but theirs are over 12" in length (ours is about 1 1/2"), massive compared to ours and are designed to sustain such force that the other employs.
The joysticks (ossicones) on their heads, are what they use to hit the under belly to rupture organs of their opponent.
Most fascinating (to me, anyway) is when one walks away from the fight...it is over. They revert back to their gentle ways; no bullying, no nagging, no growling.....not even territorial as they are known to both eat from the same tree, soon after the spat.... how unique is that?
